Ikaria Heather (Anama) Honey (16oz)

Please Note:  This year's Anama has a different texture than what you may be used to. It is less solid, although very thick, and has some soft crystallization, but the aroma and flavor are classic Anama. All beekeepers on the island have reported the same result and the consensus is that it's a function of warmer than usual winter temperatures during December, which caused a delayed harvest. We aren't complaining, we graciously take what the bees give us and this year they have given us something that looks a bit different but is every bit as delicious and perhaps a touch less bitter than normal. Enjoy!

Ikaria, Greece’s famous Blue Zone island, is remotely situated in the eastern Aegean Sea. This singular territory is globally recognized for its exceptional honey that is believed to promote longevity. One of three distinct varieties in Ikaria, Anama, comes from bees which forage exclusively on the famous Ikarian heather. Raw and cold-packed by a local Ikarian family, this uncommonly thick honey exhibits earthy, woodsy, floral, and mineral notes, with a hint of toffee and caramel.

Klio Greek honey is designated single-origin. They source from specific locations with unique terroirs which result in highly sought-after, exceptional types of honey prized among the Greeks. Collected and packaged for us on-site by local beekeepers, our limited-supply honey is pure and unprocessed: raw and unpasteurized, never heated, minimally handled.

Best honey

I’m not a real fan of honey but I love this flavor. I got one for me and one for a friend who loves honey.
