Gigantes (Giant Beans) from Feneos (17.5 oz)

Dikotylon

$8.95

Dikotylon's "Gigantes Feneou" are produced by local farmers in Feneos, a high mountain valley nestled between the peaks of Mt. Helmos and Mt. Zyria at an elevation of 2,000 feet, in the northern Peloponnese. The area is renowned for its bean cultivation. Gigantes Feneou retain their unique characteristics through cultivation techniques that have been handed down from generation to generation. They are entirely hand farmed and hand processed.  The exclusive selection of seeds, by the farmers themselves, for sowing the following year preserves the purity of these unique beans.

  • Ingredients: 100% Gigantes beans of Feneos

  • No preservatives, no pesticides

  • Net weight: 500g

Recipe Ideas

Gigantes are a versatile bean with a mild, meaty flavor that can used in any recipe that calls for white beans, although note that their larger size may require more cooking time. Below are some of my favorite recipes using gigantes.

Gigantes

This is the second time I’ve ordered the Gigantes! I received them so fast! I used them in one of Diane’s recipes a few years back and they were fantastic! I plan on using that same recipe ! I am a big fan of her show !!

Great beans!

I can compare these with a recent purchase of dried large Lima beans. When I soaked the giant limas, they shriveled up and the beans skin came off during cooking. When I soaked these they maintained their shape and continued to do so during cooking. They turned out tasty and very creamy.

outstanding!

We’ve made the gigantes recipe from The Glorious Foods of Greece several times using whatever large limas we could find around where we live. But the ones we bought from you are several notches above anything else we’ve used. Now we know what that dish is supposed to taste like!

Eating again tonight

I fixed a recipe using these beans two days ago and it was very good, skipped yesterday but having leftovers tonight and looking forward to it. I think the beans will become a regular in my pantry.
