Olive Lelia Throumba Thassou
These are arguably among the most unique Greek olives. Thassos Throumbes are a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Greek olive, produced exclusively on the island of Thassos in the northern Aegean. They mature naturally on the tree until they’re wrinkled. Their meaty texture is delightful, and their sweet flavor is disarming, as these olives are cured with a minimum amount of salt. Try just one and you’ll finish the whole bag sooner than you can pronounce throumbes! They make a great snack and are easy to transport for, say, lunch or a picnic, because they contain no liquid. Add them to salads, to a meze platter or just serve them up with whatever you’re cooking for dinner.
