Organic Cold-Pressed Whole-Grain Tahini from Evros (14.1 oz)

Samythos

$13.95

I love tahini. It is an ancient superfood with extraordinary health properties. And I was thrilled to discover Samythos. Based in Evros, Greece, they are a vertically integrated producer of what I believe is the world's finest tahini. They grow their Evros variety sesame seeds on mountainous organic farmland within the Natura network region, a designated European Ecological Network of areas that are home to rare flora and fauna.

Through the combination of low crop yields and a unique microclimate, Samythos produces certified organic sesame seeds with the highest quality characteristics as measured by their content of essential oils, vitamins, minerals & enzymes. Their sesame seeds are harvested, sorted, washed, and dried by hand, to minimize the risk of damaging the seeds and compromising their quality. As a result of strict production controls, they are able to label their products free of aflatoxin, salmonella, and gluten.

Samythos produces its tahini by first, sprouting and then cold-pressing their sesame seeds. This labor-intensive process maximizes the retention of vitamins, minerals, essential oils, and enzymes of the raw seed.

Tahini is full of essential vitamins and minerals, including:
Copper
Magnesium
Calcium
Manganese
Iron
Phosphorus
Vitamin B1
Zinc
Selenium

Tahini is a good source of dietary fiber and contains sesamin and sesamolin. These two unique compounds belong to a special group of beneficial fibers called lignans, which have been shown to have cholesterol-lowering effects in humans. Among commonly consumed nuts and seeds, sesame seeds are the highest source of phytosterols, which are believed to reduced blood levels of cholesterol and enhance the immune response and decrease the risk of certain cancers.

Recipe Ideas

Tahini is a nutritious and versatile condiment, and I'm always finding new uses for it in the kitchen. It's delicious drizzled over roasted vegetables or combined with olive oil and other seasonings to dress salads. But I even find that it adds a delicious nuttiness and depth of flavor to sweet dishes as well!

Best tasting tahini EVER!

Ok, this is by far, the best tasting tahini I have ever had! The flavor is dark and intense and so delicious, you could eat right out of the bottle until gone. This would make a great gift too.

I love Samythos tahini

I have been purchasing tahini for many years from other companies and I was so happy to discover this Samythos tahini produced from Greek organic agriculture. This is the best tahini I have ever had, extremely healthy and such a special flavor, I mix it with some Greek honey and put it on my buttered toast, so delicious. I also use it in some of my stir fry dishes. I purchased my first jar from Diane Kochilas.com many months ago, loved it so much I purchased three more jars. I hope she never discontinues stocking this wonderful product. Hoping Diane also adds to her website Samythos other organic tahini option (their raw version with a different nutritional benefit and taste experience), I would definitely buy it. Highly recommend, you wont be disappointed, Samythos is such a great company.
