Gigantes (Giant Beans) from Feneos (17.5 oz)
Gigantes are a versatile bean with a mild, meaty flavor that can used in any recipe that calls for white beans, although note that their larger size may require more cooking time. Below are some of my favorite recipes using gigantes.
Not bad, but a little disappointing. They seemed fresh enough and cooked in a reasonable time. However, they were not as creamy as I had hoped, tasted a little dry. This was true even after I poached them in olive oil for 45 minutes, long enough for others white beans to be smooth as silk.
Sublime, creamy, buttery, and the best example of Gigantes I have used. Gorgeous smooth and full without a blemish, is what they looked like in the package, and tasted even better once cooked.
I've purchased these beans elsewhere, and the quality of these is much superior! They have a beautiful, creamy texture and delicious flavor.
These beans are so delicious!! I used them in Diane's recipe Baked Gigantes with Spinach & Feta & it was wonderful!! ! I'm now a big fan of these beans & look forward to cooking with them again. YUM!
