Greek Fir Honey - Sparta, Mt. Taygetos (16 oz)

Klio

$22.95

Towering above the ancient city of Sparta, Mt. Taygetus is the highest peak on the Peloponnesus and the source of our superlative Greek Fir honey. Famous for wild herbs, the mountain is also densely forested with the native Greek Fir tree. It is one of few places in the world where bees produce honey from Fir trees. A true delicacy, it has a beautiful amber color, resinous with complex flavors of candied pistachio, sassafras and roasted chestnuts.

Klio Greek honey is designated single-origin. We source from specific locations with unique terroirs which result in highly sought-after, exceptional types of honey prized among the Greeks. Collected and packaged for us on-site by local beekeepers, our limited-supply honey is pure and unprocessed: raw and unpasteurized, never heated, minimally handled.

Fir Honey

What I like about this honey is that it is thicker than most that I have had. I can spread it on my new favorite snack a rice cake. I am reading another book The Greek Diet by Maria Loi. I have learned so much between Diane and Maria. I am happy I have made this investment.

This is a very delicious honey. The flavors are complex and make anything you put it in a real treat.

Finikia

I made my favorite cookie, Finikia, with the Greek honey from Sparta. It’s especially personal as my grandparents are from the area the honey was collected. These were for my Yiayia and she would have loved them.
