In addition to its rugged coastline and stunning greenery, Corfu is famous for its kumquats. These small citrus fruits were brought to Corfu in the mid-1800s where they flourished and eventually earned Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status. They're frequently made into liqueurs and sweets, and the sweet shop and distillery, Mavromatis, is renowned for its handmade, traditional kumquat confections. They've created this unique variety of baklava flavored with Corfiot kumquat, giving an interesting twist to this classic Greek confection.
