Mastiha & Almond Loukoumia from Chios (7 oz)

The island of Chios, located in the Aegean, is renowned for its citrus fruits as well as the exotic resin, mastiha. Chios Mastiha is a resinous sap produced from the mastic tree. While the mastic tree grows throughout the Mediterranean region, only on the southern part of Chios does it successfully produce the famous mastiha. Attempts to cultivate mastiha elsewhere have failed. It is a natural, aromatic resin that falls on the ground in the shape of teardrops from scratches made on the surface of the tree trunk with sharp tools.

Loukoumia or "Turkish Delight" is a chewy confection that is popular throughout Greece. This unique variety is flavored from mastiha and almond. Mastiha has an exotic, woody aroma that is well balanced by the sweetness and bitterness of almond here. This loukoumia is truly a taste of Greece!

Ingredients: Sugar, Glucose Syrup, Corn Starch, Almond (5%), Mastiha Oil Flavouring (0.03%), Acidity Regulator: Citric Acid

It must have been good. My husband it all before I even had a chance to taste it. Will be buying more soon.

Exotic and interesting

I liked this very different loukoumi very much, but my grandkids preferred the orange and kumquat loukoumi. It has an exotic lurking flavor that I enjoyed alot.

Very interesting exotic flavor

Very interesting. My grandchildren didn't like these with Masticha and Almond, but I did. Very interesting, but a little sure goes a long way.
